{cash envelope wallet}

We decided at the beginning of the year to try out Dave Ramsey's Envelope System!  So, I decided to make this wallet to help keep my "envelopes" organized.
I used this pattern from WalterandVeronica's Etsy shop for my wallet, however I changed things around a little.  I didn't use the oilcloth that they suggested, but rather I just used regular cotton fabric.  I also wanted to try my hand at patchwork, so I played around with that a little for the outside design. I used a magnetic snap for my closure instead of velcro (mostly because I really don't like velcro).
I didn't add the clear ID pocket because I'm not planning to use this as my main wallet.  I put all of my loyalty cards in the pockets in the front.  And my checkbook goes in the back pocket.  We still pay most of our regular bills online, because most of them are directly taken out of our account every month.  Anything extra, like groceries, household items, entertainment, etc. I have an "envelope" for.  The only thing I would change if I made another one of these wallets is to line the "envelopes", they are a bit too flimsy for my taste.
If you would like to purchase a wallet like this they are $40 (+ shipping, if applicable). You can choose the colors/prints/fabrics and I will try to find fabric as close to what you request as possible.  It can be made from just one fabric on the outside, or I can add a ruffle, it doesn't have to be a patchwork design.  Contact me at: chelscraps (@) yahoo.com.

zipper pouches {teachers gifts}

This year I decided to make something special for my children's teachers, so I whipped out 11 of these zipper pouches yesterday.    My two youngest are still in elementary school, so they just don't get a choice in giving the teacher a gift or not, but when you have children in jr. high and high school it gets a little tricky.  My 7th grader has some amazing teachers and she loves.  She still loves giving gifts, but my high schoolers... not so much!
My daughter who is a freshman just wanted to give something to her science teacher, so this one is for her.  Her favorite colors are hot pink and black.
My daughter who is a junior wanted one for one of her regular teachers and one for her Seminary teacher.  Her Seminary teacher is leaving at the end of this year to go to a different school, and she has had him the last 3 years, so she wanted me to make something special for him.  Well, obviously I'm not giving him a zipper pouch, so he'll be getting something a little more appropriate for him... come back soon to see what that'll be.
If you would like to purchase a pouch like one of these they are $12 + shipping.  These pictured are approximately 8-3/4" (w) x 5.5" (h). You can choose the colors/prints and I will try to find fabric as close to what you request as possible.  Contact me at: chelscraps (@) yahoo.com.

{cam's prom dress}

This is my second oldest daughter, Cammi. She went to prom this last weekend and I finished making her dress just in time for pictures. I used a combination of patterns... Simplicity #3878 and the sleeves from #6675.  I did alter the sleeves and made them wider than the pattern is, to make it more modest.  Doesn't she look beautiful?
